Gill, the UK-based marine clothing specialist, has promoted Alex Atkin to the role of commercial manager, effective immediately.
Atkin, who previously served as northern sales representative, will be responsible for managing specific overseas markets in conjunction with European agents and worldwide distributors, as well as developing business with corporate clients. He will report to Bryan Stewart, Gill's international sales and marketing manager.
"I am delighted that Alex's career is developing within the company; since he joined us three years ago he has gained great experience in many parts of our business, and I look forward to working with him in his new role," says Stewart.
Replacing Atkin on the northern territory is James Downes, who has joined the Gill sales team as northern area manager. He has many years' experience in the marine industry, having previously worked with Kelvin Hughes and Mailspeed Marine.
Founded in 1975, Gill Marine designs and manufactures a range of technical sailing gear for use in adverse weather conditions, including base layers, wetsuits, drysuits and footwear at its Nottingham, UK-based headquarters. Its products are distributed worldwide.
