Walker Bay Boats is pleased to announce that they have won the Freeman K. Pitman Innovation Award for the inflatable AirDockTM. Presented by SAIL Magazine, this prestigious award recognizes innovation in gear, systems and technology within the marine indu

"This is a great honor and we are pleased to have the AirDock recognized by SAIL magazine´s high caliber of editors who are exposed to a lot of fantastic products every year," said Jill Spacey, Marketing Manager for Walker Bay Boats. This is the second Freeman K Pitman innovation award that Walker Bay has won, the first being for the Walker Bay Rigid Inflatable Dinghy (RID) in 2004. This marks the 12th award for Walker Bay, now in its 12th year of operations.

The AirDockTM is the most rigid and stable inflatable dock in the world as it makes use of Walker Bay´s proprietary AirWebTM High-Pressure Construction (patent pending). AirWeb is formed from a heavy-duty seven-layer polymer coated fabric that is joined inside by thousands of drop-stitch fibers, much like an elaborate web, making it possible to inflate to more than 6.5 PSI or 0.45 bar. This creates a rigid platform that is strong enough to endure several adults, kids and even the family dog. This AirWeb technology is also used in the Airis Inflatable Kayaks, which won the NMMA Innovation award in Miami.

Underneath the deck, there are four Aqua-LocTM ballast bags (patent pending) to trap water and prevent the AirDock from sliding on the water´s surface. The result is an extremely stable, firm platform that one can walk on, or even dive from. The16 heavy-duty stainless steel D-rings are attached in the same manner as the towing rings on inflatable boats ensuring the dock will be secured to your boat, anchor or other docks. It makes the perfect dock for swimming, sunbathing, wake boarding, water skiing or diving and with the marine rope handle around the circumference it´s ideal for fastening to the stern of a pleasure boat when moored. Unlike a traditional wood dock, the AirDock is comfortable, compact, stowable, and requires no maintenance other than simple cleaning. It comes in two sizes; 30 square feet and 60 square feet, and has its own custom carry bag making it easy to pack away and stow in your boat when not in use. It retails for $1,299 and 1,999.
